Trained as a journalist, Ms. Kincaid has written throughout her professional career, including co-authoring the book, Lessons from Rural America: A Case History (1984). She grew up in Michigan and went to the Washington, DC, area in the late 1960s to work as a speechwriter and press aide on Capitol Hill for the late Philip A. Hart, the US Senator from Michigan for whom the third Senate Office Building is named. In addition, she was a founding partner in a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and fund-raising for nonprofit corporations. Come Live With Me: A Memoir of Family, Alzheimer’s, and Hope is based on her fifteen years as a student of Alzheimer’s and family caregiving. She still attends an Arlington, VA, caregivers support group serving as proof that there is life and new purpose after caregiving. She now lives in Falls Church, VA, and spends time in West Virginia with her extended family.
