I’m a simple guy. Married with a son and stepdaughter. I love the beach, camping, LEGO and ice-cream, I am also a volunteer youth football (soccer) coach in my spare time and became an author by accident.
Like many, my son struggled during the pandemic, and this was compounded by the loss of his grandmother. Having tried many things to make him smile again, I had to get creative, and our love of stories made this happen. Every night I read him a bedtime story, including when I was working overseas, so one evening when he was sad, I said I would write a story for him.
I started by adding things he would relate to, including a character with his name, and created ‘Connor the Cornflake’; a crazy adventure about cereal superheroes, led by a walking stick wielding ninja Granny Granola, who try and save the children of the world from a future of boring breakfast.
My reward was not just the sound of my son laughing again, it was also that he started to write himself and created ‘The Adventures of Connor and Sparky’, it was this that inspired me to keep going on this journey.
