Edric Cane is a life-long learner and teacher who has never been satisfied by traditional math instruction methods that consistent mostly of memorized rules and formulas. He believes that math should be about discovery, connections and practical applications that can be easily applied in daily life. Edric is the the author and creator of Making Friends With Numbers, an fun and successful workbook designed for elementary-aged children to learn their multiplication facts and essential number-sense. Teaching to Intuition: Mathematics is a book for classroom and parent educators which offers original strategies to teach essential elementary- and middle-school math curriculum.
The author has taught in Europe, in Africa, at Oberlin College (Ohio), Occidental College (Los Angeles) and an underserved high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He has a PhD from the University of Michigan and spent two years as a Besse Scholar at Saint Antony’s College (Oxford University, England). He now lives near Sacramento, California.
