I was born in Cleveland, MS, where I was partially raised. I moved in between Cleveland, MS and Memphis, TN from the ages of 10-14. I completed high school and college in Memphis,TN. While in high school, I excelled academically. I was involved in sports, such as; cross country, track and softball. However, I had natural inclination towards the arts, particularly choir and drama. I auditioned for a play called "The Piano Lesson" by August Wilson and landed the role of Berniece. Despite it being my first time acting, I, according to my drama teacher, peers and high school principal had a stellar performance. My high school principal suggested that I "only" go to college for theatre.
Post high school, I enrolled in Southwest Tennessee Community College. Expectedly, I majored in Speech & Theatre and earned an Associate of Arts in 2010. In 2012, I continued my education at the University of Memphis. In 2014, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Fine Arts.
Immediately after college, my journey led me to Nashville, TN. In 2015, my professional start began as a script reader with the Nashville Film Festival (NaFF). In the past, writing was a hobby of mine. With the experience I gained as a script reader I got the idea to continue writing, particularly screenplays so that I may write characters that I wanted to portray as an actress. However, I did not limit myself. I became multi-medium writer. I not only wrote screenplays. I wrote essays, short stories, short films and poetry.
Circumstances in my life prevented me from giving my full potential to my artistic endeavors. I worked odd jobs that were not particularly align with my purpose for survival. In 2018, I made a conscious decision to only take employment that aligned with my purpose. I begin substitute teaching while simultaneously working at a book and print company called Ingram. As I believe children are apart of everyone's purpose. While working at Ingram I was exposed to many different authors and gained the confidence to publish a work of my own.
In April 2023, I self published a book with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing called "Laconic Poetry & Prose."
I currently work as a Classroom Associate at Cane Ridge High School. I would like for high school students to have access to my book. It is my desire to become a book vendor for MNPS to take advantage of the Limitless Libraries program.
