Fred Cardin grew up in Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, worked three years in the university's physics department, and lived in California for thirteen years. He has had fiction and poetry published in literary magazines and has supported himself by working at a number of blue-collar jobs that included working in a paper mill and as a commercial driver. He now lives in Wisconsin.
