Lee Durham Stone retired after 26 years of teaching high school social studies in three states (including 15 years of A.P. Human Geography) and at community colleges.
The author grew up in Muhlenberg County, graduated from the University of Kentucky (1970), and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica (1979-82). He earned four master’s degrees from state universities (Ohio University, University of Southern Mississippi, and California Polytechnic State University) and a Ph.D. from Texas State University (2013).
In addition, Dr. Stone recently completed an M.A. in American history from Gettysburg College (2023) in the program associated with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
