Ramy Chia was born in Nicaragua in 1981 and was taken to Belize as a baby to escape the Contra War. She comes from a humble family and has encountered numerous challenges throughout her life, including the frightening task of becoming a teenage mother at the age of 16. Ramy firmly believes that now that women have earned their seat at the table, it is not only crucial to make their voices heard but also to continue making their presence felt, ensuring that the contributions of women in various fields continue to positively impact society.
