My one effort as a writer/publisher was a bucket list project at age 83 (now 85). 96 pages, printed locally, and sold to Facebook friends.. resulting in about a hundred willing to cough up $22 plus postage. Purely by luck, I then accidentally discovered that you could publish on Amazon at no cost and thought, why not? Now one year later, I've managed to attain the #1 Best Seller rating in four Amazon categories, Rock Music, General Broadcasting, Radio History, and Radio Reference. I was particularly pleased when one reader described the book as "A love letter to radio." I am a novice author (and this will be my only book) with a super-senior budget (no $$ for promotion) but have enjoyed the experience of writing, publishing, and getting acquainted with a whole new world at my advanced age.
