My book, “The Adventures of Smelly the Garbage Truck: From “PU” to “Woo-hoo!” was declined by every publisher I contacted. Undeterred, I decided to pursue my goal and self-publish on Amazon. I don’t know God’s plan for my book, or if my book will ever be published outside of Amazon. I know that I will continue to ask for God’s wisdom and to follow the path He opens for me. Additionally, I know that I must do my part and ask others that have come before me how I can make a difference. My aspiration is to teach children to find an individual’s inner beauty while considering our environment.
I would like to tell you that I am an accomplished children’s writer with a degree in Journalism and you will no doubt enjoy my book. Unfortunately, I am anything but accomplished.
I can tell you that after taking a deep introspective look at my life, I realize that I must release control and embrace the journey that God intends for me. No longer will I settle for the status quo. With God’s blessing, I crafted a message of equality and love for children, the elderly, and our environment. I shared this story with my children for twenty years and recently wove my own trials and tribulations into their favorite bedtime tale. My hope is to inspire children to find an individual’s inner beauty and that everyday heroes are ordinary people that do extraordinary things.
In closing, Mark Twain once remarked: “Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.”
