The son of a B.C. educator who became a professor at the U. of Chicago, William Thomas was named a National Merit Scholar in the U.S. competition and followed his dad to Chicago, where he took a BA in English. His first novel, Daddy's Darling Daughter, was published in 1974 with Simon & Schuster of Canada.
Life swept him far from the world of books, as he fell in love with the seafood business, ran an old fishing boat, and then became a Vancouver longshoreman.
A journalism program at Langara College got him back on track with writing, and Dangerous Vision, a corporate espionage thriller which involves Cold War style remote viewing, was self-published in 2005. Thomas has now done a rewrite of this book, and a sequel is in the works. The science fiction novel Return of the Convict was published with CreateSpace in 2016, and it also forms the basis for a series.
