BarCats
Douglas Keil, author
During the spontaneous act of saving cats from certain death, Ethan meets and falls for Annie, a mysterious woman who is sentenced to prison while trying to protect her Mafia uncle. Ethan finds himself in the crosshairs of the Feds and the mob as he risks all to obtain the release of Annie, now his wife. Along the way he inherits responsibility for a behemoth Sicilian bodyguard, learns some hard lessons from a dying con man, becomes entangled with a sleazy real estate agent, and seeks assistance from a rebel Italian priest and a curious university professor. The BarCats? They have a few words of advice to offer as well.
Reviews
Kathryn Bennett for Readers' Favorite

A very interesting story. There was a lot going on, but that is what makes a good book. I love the BarCats.   I also love Ethan as a character. He has a good heart, even if he has to be manipulative sometimes. The flow of this book is good - it really picks up after the first chapters. The numerous characters are sometimes a little hard to  track.  However, it was still a wonderfully written book.  Douglas Keil has a knack and a flair for writing and telling a good story. I would recommend this one to anyone who wants to dig into a good tale.

Kirkus Reviews

A mostly entertaining, if somewhat odd, mob tale. Keil writes in a personable prose that adequately summons to life his characters and their colorful, Rust Belt setting.
