Rachel is a terrified 13-year-old girl living in a kibbutz in Israel, where she hears gunfire and rockets daily. She witnessed people being butchered as she fled to the safety of a hidden room. Rachel feels helpless and alone, unable to leave her hiding place or do anything to help those around her. In the midst of this chaos, she turns to her hero, Anne Frank, finding solace in "The Diary of Anne Frank." Rachel begins to write in her own diary every day, addressing each entry to Anne herself, as if confiding in her.
