The book is a collection of short literary fiction, a mixture of what I have dubbed Tales (traditional stories) and Trifles (shorter, usually more humorous, pieces). The settings range from England to the USA to Bermuda and to the West Indies, in times ranging from the early Twentieth Century to the present day. It is the latest in a series of recent short story collections, including Ragbag (which was reviewed by Kirkus Reviews in 2018). Fortes And Foibles includes as a bonus a short comedy play, 'Sunday Roast'.
