There is a distinct difference between a tourist and a traveler, and this book really highlights that of a traveler. This author clearly went off the beaten path to meet locals where they lived and worked and listened carefully to their stories. In every culture and within every human being are extraordinary stories that have yet to be told, and the human connection is the key to relaying those stories with respect. This young woman has a gift for connecting, and for relaying her amazing experiences in an engaging way for the reader. Her writing reminds me of Bill Bryson’s books, which I love!
Erin captures you and takes you on a journey that stirs emotions, teaches life lessons, and encourages you to explore what is possible. Erin has profound insight on life, love and how we connect to the universe and all those that engage. A must read for young adults to 100+. Your next Gui Ren is looking for you too.
A thoughtful and entertaining book about traveling in Asia, overcoming post-graduate obstacles, and meeting those who help us just when we need them most. I truly enjoyed every page of my copy.
I love the spirit of this book. I love O’Neil’s authenticity, her courage, and her honest commitment to being real, and to finding the beauty in humanity. She takes us on a journey that I won’t soon forget, and while it was lovely to read about a part of the world I have not seen, truthfully, it is her journey of self discovery that delighted me most. She is such a wise young woman, and I am so glad other young people with wanderlust now have her book to embrace. She has given us all such a gift!
This book is a wonderful journey through Asia, exploring what links us all together and the most important part of traveling; connection! I can't say enough good things about this book. If you are missing Asia or have never visited, you will be reminiscing in the adventure!
A very insightful and interesting look into the mind of a young traveler. I am still reading and taking my own journey through each chapter but it is a wonderful telling of how life can literally take you on a physics journey while going on a spiritual and mental journey as well. A very great read and very well told.
