Hunted, a tale of werewolves in a modern-day town, combines mystery and suspense with elements of magic realism.

The sounds of howling at night have werewolf-obsessed Jason Porter on edge. Worse still, he's convinced that his teenage sister, Bianca, is a werewolf. The evidence -- her late-night lifestyle, grumpiness, messiness, and other characteristics -- points to no other conclusion. Unfortunately, no one believes him, including his mother.

As he tries to prove the seemingly impossible -- the existence of werewolves -- Jason's imagination and bravery inspire acts of mischief and land him in precarious situations! Find out the lengths to which Jason will go as he tries to prove his sister is a werewolf and as he risks his own safety.

Hunted: A Werewolf Mystery is a shifter fantasy novel for preteens and young adults written by B.S. Gibbs. Jason just knew his fourteen-year-old older sister had to be a werewolf. He had never seen her actually change into one, but her increasingly odd behavior continued to make him think that her being a werewolf was the only possible answer. He knew his mom was beyond tired of the two of them quarreling, but he and Bianca really didn’t like each other very much, and it was getting harder and harder to act like they did. But the werewolf thing really did make sense. She filed her nails constantly and was always disheveled and tired in the mornings, her hair matted and crazy. And she had become nocturnal, wandering around the neighborhood at all hours. It bothered Jason that his mom was always on Bianca’s side, that Bianca seemed to be able to get away with anything while he took the blame, but her being a werewolf, he’d have to do something about that. His best friend, Danny, wasn’t convinced when Jason confided his suspicions to him. Danny’s big sister shared a lot of those same traits with Bianca -- being grumpy, grouchy, nocturnal and leaving hair in the drain, but he was pretty sure his sister was not a werewolf.

B.S. Gibbs’s shifter fantasy novel for preteens and young adults, Hunted: A Werewolf Mystery, is a fun and exciting tale about a preteen whose belief that his sister is a werewolf is met with skepticism by all the adults and even the kids in his life. Things get really tense when the werewolf, who seems to be stalking him and his mom, does things that Jason gets blamed for. Gibbs’ werewolves are genuinely scary critters, and Jason as werewolf hunter extraordinaire is great fun to watch. I loved the scene in which he gets holy water for his water gun, and found the actions scenes in this story to be convincing and believable. Hunted: A Werewolf Mystery is most highly recommended.
