Lazy Eye Lotus

"Lazy Eye Lotus is a little bit like an Eat Pray Love on acid, written with candor and humor, in which a young adult heals from rock bottom using an unorthodox path."-Elle Nash, Author of Animals Eat Each Other

"This beautifully interesting story starts with a bang, ends with a bang, and keeps you captivated through everything in between. Lazy Eye Lotus feels like so many people I've known and been. It's incredibly relatable while leaving plenty of room for surprise. Rich and delicious."- Morgan Garza, Author of Soul Magic

Tash, an androgynous tough girl, fails out of corporate America after losing her job for the third time. Once her romantic interest ends up in a coma following a freak accident, she finds herself on a road trip to seek shamanic healing at an ayahuasca retreat. Through a series of psychedelic experiences with her new free-spirited friends she meets at a psychic shop, she begins to seek her life's path and uncovers the roots of her addictive behaviors. Before Tash completes her journey, she finds herself in the bed of her newfound mentor's beau, throwing into question her sense of morality, friendship, loyalty and self.

A mix of Otessa Moshfegh's "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" and Sally Rooney's "Conversations with Friends," Lazy Eye Lotus explores themes of psychedelic drug use, plant medicine, shamanism, addiction, anxiety and the complex nature of relationships, romance and sex. It's an idiosyncratic, romantic, slightly comedic story which reveals the phenomenal power of the mind and the importance of self-healing. Lazy Eye Lotus is a powerful debut written with a terrific underpinning around the authenticity of self.

"Thought provoking journey between the emotional and the physical. Bacinski's work reads like a super engaging podcast."- Bud Smith, Author of Work
