While there are a lot of authors who explore themes of cuckolding and interracial relationships, few do it with the intimate flair of Damien Dsoul. His stories are all interconnected, with recurring characters. They feel like the stories of a man who lives the lifestyle, and who shares it with friends.

While it does have a happily-ever-after, Mary's Addiction also has one of Damien's darkest, edgiest openings yet. Donald and Mary return home to interrupt a burglary, which quickly turns into something much more as Donald is overpowered and tied up while three horny young black men have their way with his wife. There is some violence to the scene, flirting with the wrong side of dubious consent, and it is not just for titillation. Donald keeps coming back to the question of sexual assault, and then begins to wonder if his wife set it all up, going so far as to hire the infamous Thaddeus Black to investigate.

I always enjoy Damien's stories, but there were a few things I thought he did exceptionally well here. I loved the air of mystery surrounding the story, with the hints of conspiracies and secrets interwoven throughout the neighborhood relationships. That uncertainty adds an extra level of excitement to the story. Without saying too much about where those secrets lead, the depth of the neighborhood's erotic indulgence is fantastic, leading deeper into the theme of black-owned white couples. There are multiple surprises along the way, and even some humor to enhance the erotica. So many cuckolding stories climax too soon, becoming repetitive in the end, but this is a book of multiple climaxes - including a key scene of exhibitionism that still makes me tingle.

Be warned, however, once you start indulging in Mary's Addiction, you may find yourself looking to explore the lifestyle as well.
