Buddy Price, a Hollywood agent, dies in a car crash and finds himself in Heaven. There, he discovers God’s had enough with people and will pull the plug if we can’t learn to get along - a 'love thy neighbor or else' sort of message. An unlikely hero as there ever was, Buddy convinces God to let him fix things and gets a second chance. God agrees and tells Buddy that if he fails, God will destroy the planet and everything on it.
Though “resurrected,” Buddy remains a total jerk - he’s a schemer and a dreamer, a con man and a misogynist - his cynicism and sarcasm surpassed only by his innate ability to cover his own butt.
His personal assistant, Stacey, though, is loyal, helpful, and devoted to seeing Buddy succeed, but gets no credit or thanks - at least for a while.
In less capable hands, Buddy Price would number among the thousands of other noir-ish men who reduce women to exaggerated body parts – good only in the bedroom – never the boardroom.
But, as Buddy’s quest for his holy grail - the Jeremiah Box, and, for love, continues, Whitaker takes down the walls and we meet a wild cast of characters and enjoy a funny, funny story – one that is imaginative, and ultimately, redeeming.

I was inspired to pick up this book while vacationing at my brothers. The book was laying on the end table and if it has writing on it I must pick it up, and check it out! So glad that I did. Read 2 chapters and then returned home to purchase my own copy so I could finish reading the story. Buddy really has a problem telling reality from hallucinations. Being a person who deals in Hollywood make believe he has difficulty deciding what is real and what-is strictly imagination. He ends up with an exciting journey to protect the woman he loves and save the world from being destroyed by God. He has conversations with God, Guardian Angels and the Devil..........................or does he? Poor Buddy, so confused.This fast paced story had me opening the delivery wrapper and sitting down to complete the "read".Had a hard time putting the book down until finished reading it. I finished it in one day!!!
