5.0 out of 5 stars This is an insightful and easy to understand book on food addiction and how to overcome it.

I received a pre-release advance copy of Sandra Elia’s book, “Never Enough: The Three Pillars of Food Addiction Recovery.” This book is written both clearly and concisely and sheds important light on the often misunderstood topic of food addiction. Sandra takes the reader on a journey through her own life and the impact that food addiction had on her own life and it provides invaluable insights on how she was able to take control of her food addiction and regain control of her life.

The forward of the book is written by Dr. Vera Tarman who is the author of the book, “Food Junkies” and she validates the underlying premise of Sandra’s book and that is that food addiction is just like any other addiction whether it be alcohol or drug addiction and that it too can be overcome. The first thing that people should do to recover from food addiction is to accept who they are and to have unconditional love for her/him.

As examined in more detail in Sandra’s book, there are three main pillars to overcoming food addiction and they are: 1) Eliminating your trigger foods is the first pillar of achieving food serenity; 2) Developing spirituality and mindfulness is the second pillar; 3) Establishing and belonging to a support network is the third pillar. Sandra expands on all three of these fundamental pillars of food addiction throughout her book.

Each chapter provides the reader with useful insights and practical strategies that will enable a person to better understand and live a much fulfilled life with their food addiction. Although, Sandra’s book would be an invaluable resource for someone who you may know who is struggling with food addiction or for someone who simply wants to maintain a positive outlook in regards to their weight.

One of the most insightful parts of the book was Exercise #1 which challenges the reader to reassess their relationship with their scale and Sandra claims that if a person’s relationship with their scale is quite negative and toxic then they might want to consider breaking up with their scale!

I highly recommend this book as it is an invaluable resource for people who want to fundamentally change how they see themselves and it provides the tools that will empower them and bring about true and lasting change in their life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading Never Enough was a deeply emotional experience for me

Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2023

As I read through Never Enough, I couldn't help but feel a sense of connection with the author, Sandra Elia. Her honesty and vulnerability in sharing her own struggles with food addiction touched me deeply, and her compassionate approach to helping others overcome this debilitating condition is truly inspiring.

Through her three pillars of food addiction, Sandra offers a roadmap for those who have struggled for years with the endless cycle of diets and weight loss programs. She helps readers understand the complex interplay between the brain, food, and addiction, and provides practical tools and strategies for breaking free from addictive patterns and building a healthier relationship with food.

What I appreciate most about this book is the message of self-love that runs throughout. Sandra emphasizes the importance of making self-love an action and a habit of mind, rather than just a vague concept. She shows us that by nurturing our minds, bodies, and souls, we can heal from the wounds of food addiction and find greater fulfillment in life.

Reading Never Enough was a deeply emotional experience for me. I saw myself in the stories of the people who shared their struggles with food addiction, and I felt a sense of hope that recovery is possible. I would recommend this book to anyone who has felt trapped in the cycle of food addiction, and to anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of the powerful connection between the mind and body. This book has the potential to change lives, and I am grateful for Sandra Elia's courage and compassion in sharing her message with the world.
