It seemed especially ironic that while Sophie was filled with the romance of the occasion and feeling especially vulnerable, Andrew was simply getting ready to lower the boom on their relationship. Then to make matters worse, he spent the entire wedding reception flirting and dancing with someone else. And Andrew wasn’t even her first disaster of a boyfriend. Her besties, Darcy and Erin, were also not so impressed with their love lives -- or lack thereof. How does one end up with a fairy-tale romance like Bailey and Ryan’s? No More Bad Dates is a well-written and highly entertaining story about a 25-year-old barista who loves her job, despite what her family thinks about it, and decides to make changes in the way she selects her boyfriends. O’Keeffe’s characters are marvelous. One can’t help but feel sympathy for Sophie, whose obligatory appearances at the Mandatory McCarthy Meals leave her relatively defenseless against her siblings’ plans to have her move back home with her parents and intern for them for free. The vetting sessions are hilarious, and the boyfriend material that actually makes it past the committee’s scrutiny is beyond funny. I’m pleased to see that O’Keeffe plans on making this book into a series. The characters and setting are ideal. I’m looking forward to the next book. No More Bad Dates: High Tea - A Cozy Cottage Café Story, Book 1 is most highly recommended.
