What price societal and governmental forgiveness and redemption for the remorseful, convicted and released non-violent felon? In this dystopian Sci-fi thriller, twice convicted felon, Jane Wakefield, is about to find out.

P.I.N.T.S. centers around a System- initiated proposal whereby convicted felons can achieve total criminal record expungement and a new chance at life if they are willing to enter The Absolution Program - thereby allowing them to receive a 'blood-payment' sentence. As Jane embarks on her perilous quest for redemption, she witnesses firsthand the true horror of her position as she is forced to face the views of society, The System, her peers, and herself.

In her premiere novel, T.Harris gives readers a front row seat to Jane's mental disconnect when the profundities of the situation she's signed on for - the intense attitudes she's both subject to and a participant of, and the memories of her past - all converge to conspire against her. For Jane Wakefield just might find out that the ultimate verdict of society and the government has already been passed.

Drawing from her personal experiences, T. Harris weaves a haunting web and provides an unabridged and starkly disturbing foray into the world of the released convicted felon. Her hope is to shine a spotlight on an issue often portrayed dispassionately or with contempt. Narrated from the felon's point of view, P.I.N.T.S. aims to provoke further conversation regarding the need for criminal justice reform.

5.0 out of 5 starsT. Harris' debut novel is amazing!

The dystopia of "the System" reminded me of the Republic of Gilead ( in Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale"). Like Offred, Jane finds that her fate is ultimately determined by what she is, rather than her actual transgressions. There are echoes of Orwell's "1984" also; you definitely sense Big Brother is watching. While this is not a place I would want to live, I want to visit again when her next book comes out!

A deeply insightful, metaphorical foray into our present criminal justice system and the true toll exacted from those we incarcerate. Masterfully written - reminded me of a cross between The Handmaid's Tale and The Matrix with shades of 1984 and Frankenstein. If you aren't left with the absolute reality of the havoc wreaked upon the lives who have served their sentences, as well as their families, and their struggles to leave their pasts behind them, you need to reread it. It's a powerful lesson and those involved in our criminal justice system should read it, if only to get a deeper sense of the struggles faced by those who truly want to move on from their pasts.
