A  high-school reunion in a South Florida town unburies the past (literally), launching a washed-up, lottery-winning surfer with a terrible secret on a twisted journey of mayhem and mystery through the Sunshine State in search of a missing woman. Heart and dark humor combine with nail-biting action and suspense in this unhinged tale of revenge and redemption, where everyone has something to hide and nothing is what it seems.

Reviews
A genuinely creepy sadist is the high point of Box’s dark thriller set in Florida in 1995. The unnamed murderer selects Albert Thumpet, an accountant living in North Dakota, as his first victim because Thumpet was “the most boring member of the Seminole High School Class of 1975.” The killer takes Thumpet’s identity in time to attend Thumpet’s 20-year high school reunion. His next victim is another member of the class of ’95, John Mangrum, slaughtered in a particularly gruesome way. As part of the villain’s evil plan, he frames Danny Teakwell for Mangrum’s murder. Danny has been lucky enough to win the lottery, but remains haunted by a tragic night decades earlier for which he can never truly atone and which cost him the love of his life, classmate Sari Hunter. The net gradually tightens around Danny as he desperately tries but fails to avoid prosecution. The antics of attorney Bennie Finkel, a friend of Danny’s from Seminole High who defends him in court, provide some comic relief. (BookLife)
IndieReader Reviews

"The characters are brilliantly constructed, each one with their own quirks and flaws that might seem unbelievable handled by a less adept writer. The dark humor is witty and serves to lessen the tension in all the right ways before it heightens again. ...  PSYCHO-TROPICS effortlessly captures the wonderful eccentricities of life in South Florida (not to mention in other parts of the state) and offers a dose of oddball humor." -- IndieReader Reviews (Official Seal of Approval)

Kirkus Reviews

"An engaging thriller with plenty of humor, good characterization, and a memorable villain ..." -- Kirkus Reviews

Surfer Dad UK

"Psycho-Tropics is like riding Pipeline with a hangover. It's jaw dropping, heart thumping and addictively exhilarating, but with a hint of disorientation, dizziness and an unsettled stomach. But by the end you'll be smiling ear to ear and bursting to tell your mates how good it was." -- Andrew Norton, Surfer Dad UK

Writer's Digest

"Marrying humor with suspense is not easy, but it comes across masterfully .... A truly enjoyable read." -- Judge, 23rd Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards (2015 Award Winner in Genre Fiction)
