Seven Years Gone: Undesirable

Children/Young Adult; General Fiction (including literary and historical); (Market)

Five generations after world leaders engineer a virus to decimate the population and keep it under control, life continues as normal for those living in The Society. They are divided into classes and go about their lives because it is all they know. The genetically fortunate become rulers, while those labeled undesirable are never seen again. Torn between her obligation to The Society that she was raised in and a desire to choose her own fate, Ginger takes a chance and risks it all to cross a vast wilderness alone for a chance to be free.

An exciting first effort from the author. Although this dystopian view of humanity ( or lack thereof) is hardly new the author brings a fresh slant to this vision. The acid test of these sorts of books is whether I want to read more. This first part of the trilogy was a delightful appetizer (prologue) for what is to come. I read this in two sittings which I never do. Kudos to the author for holding my interest. PS I did recognize the barely disguised place names in the story which certainly helped in my visualization but sadly I also recognized the depressing parallels with today's society.

Totally had me enthralled! This story was wonderfully written! The plot was intriguing, and while certain dystopian storylines irritate me, this had me hooked. Well done.

Seven Years Gone: Undesirable is a great book! The author’s dystopian vision matches many of the breakouts SciFi writers of this era in offering great pieces about the conflicts occurring within society through a very creative storyline. I did not feel like it was in my face. Instead, the story drove itself while making some great parallels to possible dark roads society is heading toward today. Excellent work. I highly recommend!

Exciting work with unexpected plot twists. The author did a great job of character development and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
