Sidonia's Seam Binding

Adult; Memoir; (Market)

The only daughter of a master dressmaker, a single mother Holocaust survivor, struggles to develop her own independent character, apart from her mother's vision. Sidonia's Seam Binding, the last volume in the Sidonia's Thread trilogy, is the most introspective and raw glimpse into the author's psyche as she grows into adulthood up to the present moment. Imagining an alternative reality of her mother's life as though she had never been born, while also tracing her mother's lost Hungarian ancestry, devastated by the Holocaust, the author faces truths about her persona and lifestyle that she never recognized before.

In her incredible, masterfully written memoir, Sidonia's Seam

Binding: A Holocaust Dressmaker's Daughter Discovers Her Style,

the alternative life Marcus imagined for her. The author ponders

over what life would have been like for her mother if she had not

existed and reflects on her mother’s personality and decisions

which were shaped by her childhood and the devastating

experiences she experienced. Marcus shares how she developed

her identity as an adult and covers her mother’s successful

dressmaking journey and her own impactful career.

of her life and her mother’s. Sidonia and her daughter are inspiring,

fascinating and informative. A poignant and unforgettable read,

Sidonia's Seam Binding by Hanna Perlstein Marcus is a moving story

I followed along on Hanna's journey since it was similar to my own story. Hanna is a wonderful writer and I felt like I was part of her stories. She paints pictures with her words. You can easily feel Sidonia's strength as a single mother coming to a new country without language and a beautiful young daughter to take care of. This was a great end to a wonderful story. Highly recommended.
