Author
The Fishhook Rebellion: Hawai'i 1847

Adult; General Fiction (including literary and historical); (Market)

From the maelstrom of Cape Horn to murder on the high seas. From cutthroats in Zanzibar to death temples in Tahiti. And finally to seething intrigues in Maui. This epic story ricochets from lust and danger to betrayal and love. Each in pursuit of their own separate and perilous quest—correspondent/adventuress Samantha Swift and rogue secret agent Jack Dancer cross paths in the “hellhole of the Pacific” only to find themselves in the middle of a struggle between two superpowers. Each power vying for domination of the Pacific. Each one believing that Napoleon’s Malta treasure—missing for fifty years—is key to their conquests. But only one can find the lost trove first. And the penalty for failure is death. Dan Gooder Richard delivers an adventurous new tale with The Fishhook Rebellion in this thrilling sequel to his acclaimed The Good or Evil Side. After a successful career in marketing and publishing Dan turned his full-time attention to writing historical adventures. He lives in Virginia with his Swedish-speaking Finnish-born wife. Their forty-plus year life/work partnership-without the loggerheads-inspired the Swift & Dancer Adventures.

Another great book in the SWIFT AND DANCER series, it had what I enjoyed from the first book and a good historical novel. I grew to care about the characters from the first book and they felt like the same characters. It was what I was hoping for in a plot and am glad I was able to read this entry.

"Samantha Swift recalled a saying her mother oft repeated: Every unopened book is a challenge that contains further challenges. Swift hefted a well-turned medical book in her hands as she moved under the meager cones of light emerging from the three hexagonal prisms set in the deck above their surgeon’s quarters. "
