Two stories as part of a collection of Alternative History stories. The Tanist's wife is set in 1663, 1000 years after the Welsh defeated the Anglo-Saxons at the Battle of Heavenfield, and founded the Cymric Empire. But the Englisc still remain, unassimilated and resentfull of unequal treatment. Can the old hurts be settled, or can old grievances only be repaid in blood. The Other England is a Conan Doyle pastiche, featuring Professor Challenger and (offstage) a certain consulting detective. Add a criminal mastermind and a gateway to a different world, the Other England.
