The Wheels of Justice is a fast paced novel providing an entertaining perspective of justice in the modern day south as seen through the eyes of a young prosecutor and a poverty stricken African-American boy. The seemingly simple yet extreme story also forces the reader to unwittingly explore the deeper question of, "What is justice?" The novel not only provides insight into the criminal justice system and an exploration of the racially dividing issues that currently exist in the south but also provides nonstop entertainment by skillfully combining these serious concerns with action, suspense, humor, and romance. A modern day cross between The Outsiders and East of Eden, the book captures the street kid personalities of the former and the amusing symbolism of the latter. A sheer pleasure to read.
