This month, Michelle Argyle at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of Nourish: Ayurveda-Inspired 21-Day Detox by Stephanie Hrehirchuk.

Design Note #1: The author wanted a cover that conveyed natural healing and positivity. Using a brightly colored daisy with a bottle of clear liquid accomplishes these things and also compliments the cleanliness and simplicity of the title.

Design Note #2: White covers run the risk of becoming lost on most screens and white backgrounds. Choosing a darker background for the new cover helps it stand out against most backgrounds.

Design Note #3: The original cover struggles to balance white space, artistic elements, and typography. This leaves the title difficult to read. The new cover uses white space (i.e. empty space) as an advantage, directing the eye to the correct elements.

Design Note #4: Color has a psychological impact on the reader. Using the color yellow conveys a sense of warmth, clarity, and positivity, while using the color blue conveys a sense of dependability and strength.
