My name is Aislí Madden and I am an Irish graphic designer, TV presenter and author.
I believe that children’s emotional and mental welfare should be a priority so I created Buddabugzz to make mindfulness and well-being practices, fun and accessible to young children from all walks of life.
My business DesignBOS.ie, specialises in both branding and children’s book cover design. In 2011, I published and distributed my late mother’s best-selling book All about Home Economics, which brought about the Irish TV series Domestic Divas, of which I co-presented. I appear regularly on Irish TV and radio, and have written many articles covering a variety of personal, mindfulness and domestic issues for leading Irish newspapers.
Scientific evidence indicates that mindfulness induces sleep by helping people to de-stress and relax, and it is used as a remedy for insomnia all over the world. Research also shows that the practice of mindfulness has incalculable physical and mental health benefits. I hope to bring mindfulness into the mainstream childrens market with my new mindful children's brand.
I began to practice mindfulness meditation in my early twenties, after my mother passed away. The results were so profound that I decided to combine my love of writing and design, and develop a range of fun characters to entertain young children, and teach them some mindfulness tricks along the way. These adventurous creatures are called Buddabugzz.
In April 2015, I successfully completed a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.com,( http://bit.ly/KickstartBB) to produce a short run of my first Buddabugzz book, Zenji & the Muzzy Bug. This 32 page, read-aloud bedtime story was created to encourage infants to sleep at bedtime, by incorporating a breathing exercise and mindfulness into the narrative.
I am currently working on a series of Buddabugzz titles, all aimed to introduce mindfulness to children in a fun and exciting way. This "Sleepwell" Series is a range of seven bedtime stories which will provide solutions to problems that children face day to day, promote positive mental health and well-being, and encourage sleep at bedtime.
