Anthony F. LoFrisco has had a lifelong affair with food that began by watching his mother whip up incredible family meals on a tiny budget in the small kitchen that was the centerpiece of their family’s apartment in Brooklyn. In high school, he earned money by waiting tables at restaurants and catering halls, watching professional chefs produce their signature dishes. A graduate of Fordham College and Fordham Law School, he was a partner and litigator in several high-powered law firms in Manhattan. His way of winding down at the end of the day was to get in the kitchen, strap on an apron, turn on the oven and create his own version of his mama’s favorite recipes.
Now retired at the ripe, young age of 83, LoFrisco decided to collect all the classic recipes of his childhood and combine them with the stories behind each recipe. THE LOFRISCO FAMILY COOK: How Josie Brought Sicily to Brooklyn is both a paean to his mother’s influence on his life and a wonderful opportunity to share great family memories and delicious family recipes. A widower, he is the proud father of four children and 10 grandchildren. He lives in Wilton, Connecticut.
