Beatrice Hale is a Scottish-born, New Zealand resident, and has had several roles;  she has been a social worker/researcher and is now an enthusiastic writer, both of non-fiction and fiction.  Her non-fiction works include books on gardening (The New Zealand Pleasure Garden, The NZ Herb Calender), gerontology (The Age of Supported Independence;  Family Care), and now on children's and young adult fiction (Ice Escape, and The Resolute Heart). 

Her fiction stories are based on true events:  Ice Escape is based on her grandfather's rescue of the American Flying Family in 1932, and The Resolute Heart is based on her family origins in Cellardyke in Fife, Scotland.
