D.M. Freedman caught the writing bug when he was a young teenager and has been writing ever since. Starting out with his first article for the Staten Island Historian while in High School, he has contributed off and on to a number of publications, both in the military and locally on Long Island, most notably in the South Shore Standard where his bi-weekly opinion pieces delved into the political and local scenes. He has authored two books, the last one named A Butterfly on the Gowanus Expressway, published in 1985.
Born in Brooklyn, he lives in Long Island with his wife and two children. He is also a Rabbi, NY State Chaplain, an architect, engineer and a teacher.
