David Charters is a professor of Military History at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada. He researches, publishes, and teaches courses on terrorism and intelligence. Born and raised in Montreal he received his BA and MA from UNB, and his PhD from the University of London. From 2005 to 2008 Dr. Charters served on Canada’s Advisory Council on National Security, and was president of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies from 2008 to 2010. He is married and has two children. He has been actively involved in car racing for more than twenty years, and plays rhythm guitar in a classic rock band. Beneath the Rose is his first novel.
