David Conway was born in Dublin, Ireland and raised in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Great Britan and the Republic of Ireland. He was the recipient of an old school Catholic education adminstered by Christian Brothers and Jesuit priests. Responding poorly to the draconian pedagogy of Edmund Rice and Ignatius Loyola, Conway dropped out of school before graduating. Working in Dublin, he became a founder member of -- and original vocalist with -- the alternative rock band My Bloody Valentine. Relocating to Holland, West Berlin and London, he played extensively throughout the UK and Europe and recorded an album and three EPs with the band before quitting music in 1987. Conway's first short stories appeared in the Creation Books anthologies Red Stains and The Starry Wisdom: A Tribute to HP Lovecraft. His first collection of short stories, Metal Sushi, was first published by Oneiros Books in 1998 and was described by comic-book guru Grant Morrison (Arkham Asylum, The Invisibles, The Filth and Wonder Woman) as " ... the most powerful and distinctive writer of horror fiction since Clive Barker ..." Conway is the author of the novels Tokyo Gothic, Death Disco, Kinky Kabuki, Algol Asylum, Zentropolis, The Pornographer's Tragedy and Celebrity Death Cult. He has also written comics including Vampirella and Pantha for Harris Comics, co-created Vampi for Anarchy Studios as well as contributing to X-Men Unlimited for Marvel Comics and Decay for Dark Oz.
