His first, Sports on New York Radio: A Play-by-Play History, was published in 1999 (McGraw Hill/Masters Press). It was reviewed by Publishers Weekly, Crain's New York, New York Daily News and noted by the New York Times. It has also been frequently referenced by authors, newspapers and radio talk show hosts.
Halberstam has also written a dozen or so columns through the years on sales, sports broadcasting and sports history for publications like USA Today, LA Times, Yahoo Sports,sportsillustrated.com, Bleacher Report, New York Daily News, Miami Herald, South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Sports Business Journal.
In addition, Halberstam has been a play-by-play basketball radio announcer for many years (Miami Heat of the NBA, St. John's University Basketball on WCBS and WFAN, New York and Westwood One Radio Network nationally).
He has had a long career in sales and sales management, having spent ten years at Westwood One where he was promoted to EVP, Sports. Westwood One is among the top three national radio networks in America. Halberstam has also consulted DirecTV, MLB Network and ESPN Radio on developing new sponsorship business.
