Twice a Fulbright scholar, twice a National Foreign Language fellow, and twice a National Endowment for the Humanities grantee, David Kowalewski, PhD, has been practicing shamanism for several decades. His research on shamanism, religion, and the paranormal has appeared in Journal of Contemporary Shamanism, Journal of Shamanic Practice, Journal of Transpersonal Psychology, Journal of Humanistic Psychology, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Review of Religious Research, Journal of Church and State, Sociology of Religion, and International Journal of Transpersonal Studies. He is a graduate of extended training by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, including its Three-Year Program in Advanced Shamanic Initiation. He is the author of Death Walkers: Shamanic Psychopomps, Earthbound Ghosts, and Helping Spirits in the Afterlife Realm.
