My writing career includes several years in the newspaper business and a few more as a freelance copywriter. The main thing I took away from those years of self-employment was an appreciation for a steady paycheck, so I learned to drive an 18-wheeler. It wasn't always fun, but I'd have to say it was a positive experience for a writer.
Somehow, while trying to make a living in the traditional sense, I've managed to do a lot of writing in my spare time. A couple of years ago I discovered Indie publishing and now have three novels available on Amazon, Smashwords, and CreateSpace. I soon discovered that marketing was going to require a lot of time. As yet, I haven’t found that time, so the books languish in cyberspace, undiscovered. The year 2015 will be the year of marketing. It is written in stone. It will also be the year that I launch the private detective novel (first of a series) that will finally make me an overnight success.
