After enjoying a long and diverse career in the Dallas area public and private sectors, Debby Efurd found her true calling in 2011 by offering abortion recovery Bible studies to the post-abortive community. Until 2013, Debby was the director of post-abortion support for Involved for Life (Downtown Pregnancy Center, Uptown Women’s Center, and Sonograms on Site) in Dallas. In 2014, she helped found and today serves as president of the collective ministries of Initiative 180 and its program of abortion recovery, Peace After the Storm. Initiative 180 educates and increases awareness regarding the largest demographic in our culture – those whose lives have been wounded by a past abortion. The organization believes that by lifting the veil of silence and shame surrounding a past abortion, men and women who need help can find it. Initiative 180 and Peace After the Storm also assist churches and communities to establish abortion recovery programs. Debby educates others through speaking engagements at colleges, seminaries, churches and a wide variety of professional and service organizations. She is active with various pro-life organizations and Operation Outcry.
Debby graduated cum laude from Dallas Baptist University with a degree in counseling. She has written numerous articles for LifeNews, the Christian Post and the Baptist Standard' Debby is also the author of
"Go Tell It!" (Clovercroft--September 1, 2015). She shares much of her life at her blog “The Second Mile” (debbyefurd.com).
