Don grew up in the central San Joaquin Valley of California on a 160-acre citrus ranch. He graduated in 1967 from Exeter Union High School thereafter attending a year and a half at College of the Sequoias before entering military service with the U.S. Army in 1968. Don served with the 1/69th Armor, 4th Infantry Division as a Scout, being wounded in action in October 1969. Don received a number of decorations for his service, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor. After Vietnam, Don entered Military Intelligence and served until 1973 as a Special Agent for Counterintelligence. In civilian life, Don embarked in a 31-year career as a Peace Oficer, licensed Private Investigator, Corporate Security Manager, and Independent Paralegal until his retirement in 2005. Don and his wife Lucretia live in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and at last count, have 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and soon-to-be 3 Great-Grandchildren.
Don has authored ten books since 2014, beginning with 'What Ever Happened to Baby James?' Don knew from age 7 he was adopted but his adoptive parents stated they knew no other information. In 2008, Don's daughter Kim found Don's adoption papers revealing the names of his father and mother in Whitwell, Tennessee. Don verified that he had been stolen after birth by the Tennessee Children's Home Society and the infamous Georgia Tann. At the age of about 4 months, Don's mother was told he had died at the local clinic, and not to worry, they would take care of the remains for her. In January 1950, after a sham civil hearing in Nashville, Don was delivered by train to Los Angeles and his new parents. Don's birth parents would never know he survived; his adoptive parents would never know he found the truth.
Don would go on to write 'The Nightstalker of Shelby County' (2016), dealing with the tide of emotions created frrom his true adoption story. The 'Nightstalker writings led to a spin-off of the character Henry Von Braun and four more books called 'The Case Notes of Henry Von Braun' (I-II-III) and, 'The Private Files of Henry Von Braun' I (2016), based upon Don's Intelligence and Private Investigative backgrounds. In 2017, Don developed the character Griffith Bowman, Texas Ranger, beginning his interest in the historical-fictional western genre. He has penned 'Griffith Bowman, Texas Ranger - The Prairie Series, Editions I-II-III (2017-2018), and has now began 'Griffith Bowman, Texas Ranger - The War Years Series' which will cover the span 1859-1865. The first book in this series is expected to be released by end of July 2018.
