Edward Allen Matherly was born in West Virginia, lived most of his life in Hampton, Virginia, except for his tour of duty in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Old Dominion University and Southeastern Theological Seminary with a master in theology and religious education. He worked as a computer-aided draftsman for Thompson Consulting Engineers Inc. for over twenty-three years and retired in 2014. He currently lives in Ogden, Utah.
