Ingrid M. Ellis was born in Jamaica Queens New York where she discovered her love for writing and animation. She later migrated to California with her family in the early 80’s and became a graduate from California State University Long Beach with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Ingrid immediately began a short career with the Department of Children and Family Services - emergency response unit.
In 1997, Ingrid pursued her passion as a writer, which has now spanned more than 20 years. After received 26 no's from major publishing companies, she took matters into her own hands (pun intended) and embarked upon the world of self-publishing. She released her first book, Dare to Dream Ambrosia, which would become the spearhead to a children’s book series entitled, “The Adventures of Ambrosia Nittie”. Her ensemble of characters called, "The Dream Team," (Papaya, Ming, Rusty and Mr. Necless) became a huge sensation with men, women and children in the marketplace which sparked more than a dozen colorful imaginative works to come. She knew she was on to something great. Dare to Dream Ambrosia has since been re-released (April 2017) as an anniversary edition.
2007 was a pivotal year for Ingrid. After an intense 10 months of counseling, Ingrid penned her therapeutic memoir, “Life AFTER the Down Low," (in eBook format - no longer available), which chronicles her journey as a wife deceived by a man living a secret double life as a homosexual and accused of violating boys he pastored. She candidly addresses the concern of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as she recounts her process to healing. Her words have opened a pandora’s box of questions, speculations and cry’s for help from women with similar stories. In the April 2017, The Land of Ellis published "Life AFTER the Down Low" in paperback format.
Ingrid currently lives in Los Angeles county with her son Noah. She serves as a Regional Vice President with Primerica, the largest independent financial services marketing organization in North America. She has her sights set on releasing two new books per year.
