Jay Reed was born Jeffrey Curtis Reed in Pontiac Michigan on the 15th of October 1966. The second child of Wayne and Barbara Reed. The family moved to Linton Indiana In 1967 to be closer to family and get back to the rural setting they had grown to love. Growing up Jeffrey was the small quiet boy that struggled in school. Nicknamed Jay at a very young age the name stuck to the point his friends and most of his extended family have never known him by another name. Jeffrey was a struggling student with a learning disability that made school a toilsome burden. Growing up he was and remains an incurable dreamer often using his imagination to transport himself to the places he is unable to travel to or experience. He married while in high school with child on the way, graduated on time and worked in construction before joining the service. He served on active duty and later as a full time reservist before hanging up his uniform. Late in life he received a degree from Northwest Florida State College. After his marriage fell apart he raised his two sons alone for many years. His sons now career soldiers stay scattered across the globe from one assignment to another. Those miles have produce little in the way of barriers between him and his sons as they remain exceptionally close. While Jeffrey grew up in rural Indiana he now lives in Santa Rosa Beach Florida along a stretch of beach that holds claim as the world’s whitest. Jeffrey loves to wander and photograph the great outdoors and takes every opportunity to travel. He draws on those majestic landscapes for solitude and inspiration. His photographs can be viewed and purchased at www.Reframingamerica.com. When he is not writing, traveling, or taking photographs he is engaged in one of his dozens of hobbies or spending time with family and friends.
