Joshua Shea is a freelance writer and former magazine publisher from Auburn, Maine.
Shea was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine, and started working in journalism at seventeen years old in 1993 for his hometown newspaper, The Sun Journal. Having caught the news bug, he worked his way up the ladder at various newspapers throughout New England over the next fourteen years serving as both a writer and editor along the way.
In late 2009, he launched Lewiston Auburn Magazine, the first lifestyle magazine of its kind in central Maine. A little more than a year later, he helped create the Lewiston Auburn Film Festival, also the first of its kind in central Maine. Shortly thereafter, he captured a spot on the Auburn City Council, where he served for two years.
His addictions got the better of him in early 2014. Following intense rehabilitation, he has worked mainly as a ghostwriter for corporate clients. While he has written numerous books for others (or under a pen name), The Addiction Nobody Talks About is both his first memoir and long-form book published under his real name.
