I’m a British author, living on the coast in Dorset. I’ve been a professional writer since 1997 producing poetry; long and short fiction; and reviews of poetry, books and music. Between 2006 and 2013 I worked as a creative writing tutor at university level. In 2016 I was commissioned by the Open University choir to write lyrics for a 20-minute piece of music for choir, brass ensemble and percussion, premiered in November 2017.
In December 2017 I released my most recent book, Wonders will never cease. It is set in a British distance teaching university in 1985 and follows lecturer Fergus Girvan through the vicissitudes of growing up when you’re fifty years of age already. That book joins my others here on Booklife: Is death really necessary? and Little Mouse: a novella.
I’ve enjoyed every day of my 20 year writing life and intend to continue doing what I do for another 20 years. I love being steeped in writing: making it, reading it, reviewing and beta-reading other people’s, and providing workshops and teaching materials to enhance other people’s practice of it.
