Dr. Kétévi Adiklè Assamagan is a tenured research physicist in nuclear and particle physics at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He did his bachelor’s degree in physics and chemistry at the University of Lomé Togo, and then he went to the USA to pursue his Masters of Science and doctorate degrees in physics at Ball State University and University of Virginia, respectively.
Subsequently, Dr. Assamagan did post-doctoral studies at Hampton University. Since 1998, he has been working on the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. He is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration that discovered the particle known as the Higgs Boson. Dr. Assamagan is one of the founding members of the African School of Fundamental Physics and Applications (www.africanshoolofphysics.org).
His current research interests focus on the search of dark matter and for physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. He is a member of the National Society of Black Physicists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Physics Society. He can be reached by email at
