Kathy Whalen AIFD is a five-time Gala Award winner in multiple categories. Galas are the most prestigious awards of the global special events industry. She is a visual event stylist and floral designer, and owner of Nature’s Daughter. For more than 30 years, her business was located in the New York metropolitan area of Basking Ridge, NJ, where she specialized in corporate and residential event-and-design work.
For 15 years, Kathy was an instructor at New York Botanical Garden where she taught special events and floral design. She has designed for the Philadelphia Flower Show, Macy’s Flower Show, and was a design captain for the Bush-Quayle Inauguration. She is a co-author of the floral industry’s comprehensive manual The AIFD Guide to Floral Design – Terms, Techniques and Traditions (2005, 2008) and two editions of The Book of Floral Terminology. She is a 16-year member of AIFD’s education committee. She has served as a Judge for “Special Events Magazine” and as a member of the magazine’s Advisory Board.
Kathy holds a degree in education, and is a program and workshop presenter. She is currently a resident of Naples, Florida.
