Marianne Aleck was born and raised in Oroville, a small Northern California town that sprouted from the Gold Rush. Growing up with her brothers, she was a rough-n- tumble tomboy, and in her teens gradutated from Oroville High School. She took a few courses at Butte Junior College, but in a blue colar family, getting a higher education was percieved as a luxury.
At a young age, Ms. Aleck knew she wanted to be an author, having relished in amazing testimonies from her French mother, Monique. Story time always ended with her mother professing, "Someday I should write a book about my life." But for Marianne, as with her mother, life got in the way of her lofty ambtion, and instead, Aleck eventually went into the construction trade, getting her license in Concrete Construction.
In retirement Marianne took on the detective work of finally uncoveing the sordid details of her roots. At first it was purely for fun and a means of preserving her families rich European heritage. But soon, The Liberty Club, took on a life form all it's own, and Aleck knew it had to be shared with the world!
Marianne Aleck currently lives with her partner in a small Delta town in Central California. When not promoting her book, or doing book signings, Marianne can be found running one of her Facebook pages, Oroville Current Events, in the kitchen, being a short order cook, or walking the pup. With the information gained in her research, Marianne Aleck applied for and now has dual citizenship with the U.S. and France. The Liberty Club is Aleck's first book, and is self-published under her indie company, Smart-Aleck Publishing.
