Mark Russell Gelade was born in London, England, raised in Montreal, Canada, and is a 30-year resident of San Francisco, where he currently lives with his wife, Colette. He is past winner of The World’s Best Short, Short Story Contest, sponsored by Florida State University. His short fiction has appeared in Narrative Magazine, Southeast Review, Fiction Attic, and several other literary e-zines. He holds an M.A. in Poetics from New College of California, where he studied with Gloria Frym, Adam Cornford, and the late David Meltzer. Navigating by Stars is his debut book.
