Nori Rem is the author of “It’s in Your Hand!” A Seven Step Method to Teach the Fundamentals of Reading and Writing to Children & Adults. Although she began her journey in public education many years ago, she now uses her experience as a Section 504 Coordinator and dyslexia interventionist to serve as a private educational consultant, advocate, and literacy workshop facilitator.
It's In Your Hand! is a compilation of all the multisensory instructional techniques she used throughout her career to help struggling readers overcome their reading difficulties. She wanted to provide parents and teachers with an instructional roadmap to be used to help the struggling readers in their lives. The book contains 228 pages of teacher and parent friendly strategies that can easily be incorporated into any educator’s toolbox. She also uses these strategies as the foundation for her workshops and conference
Prior to leaving the public school sector, Nori served as a middle school administrator in Texas. In addition, she also held the position of District Reading and Language Coordinator, with a heavy concentration on curriculum and instruction. While she was the director for her districts Reading First Initiative, she had the opportunity to serve in the capacity of instructional coach to campus teachers. As a result of the teacher's diligence to the instructional startegies, third grade state assessment scores rose to ninety-eight percent. Consequently, the school’s rating rose from Acceptable to Exemplary.
Nori believes that ongoing professional development for educators is a critical element in improving student reading achievement, and likewise overall school achievement. Certified as a dyslexia interventionist in 2003, she also served on the Dyslexia Advisory Board at her districts Education Service Center, and was also a Teacher Trainer for the Texas Primary Reading Inventory a widely used assessment tool for Texas elementary school students.
