Normandy D. Piccolo is a writer and former Advertising Copywriter. She has written many books and created the Healin' Handy Puppet. Ms. Piccolo's books have been featured on Television, Mom Blogs and have even gone Global. Wow! Bet you can't guess which book Ivonna Cadaver, the nationally known scary movie icon, loves the best?
Ms. Piccolo has also donated many Healin' Handy Puppets to cancer charities for children, as well as orphanages in Africa. She cares and loves to help children smile during such a difficult time.
"The greatest reward I received from the Healin' Handy puppets are the heartfelt letters from parents and sometimes the ill children themselves, telling how happy and surprised they were to receive the puppet and how much it helped whoever was in need. You know, the comfort factor. We all have a favorite toy or blanket we need when we don't feel well. It helps us to feel better."
Ms. Piccolo has also written radio scripts for the "Click It or Ticket" national campaign and for "Operation Lifesaver", which featured well-known Country Stars including Charlie Daniels. Ms. Piccolo's song, "My Bestfriend Ted", received continuous air-play on Chicago radio. Additionally, Ms. Piccolo worked on the GodSpeaks Billboard campaign contributing campaign concepts. She contributed scripts for the televised cartoon, Auto-B-Good. Also, she has a poem, entitled Peace, that was published in Tomorrow's Dream which focuses on describing the afterworld.
"My writings are geared toward educating the young, our future. Every book I write for them, I try to incorporate a lesson to be learned or teach them something new." ~Sun Sentinel Newspaper 07/24/96
Ms. Piccolo currently resides in Florida and when not writing, enjoys curling up on the couch with a warm cup of tea and a good book to read ~ preferably a book set in the past. To Ms. Piccolo, there is nothing better in the world than to take hold of a book and while reading, allowing the book to take hold of you and your imagination. Reading, next to learning, truly is the greatest adventure of them all.
"I think the ability for a child to use their imagination is often lost nowadays in our fast-paced world of technology. I am trying to bring it back by writing creative, fun stories that sometimes have pictures inside, and sometimes not. I want you, the reader, to enjoy using your Imagination - for it is the key that unlocks the door to endless possibilities".
